Educating Overage and Undercredited Youth
(www.schoolsmovingup.net)
This webinar, part of a series of WestEd-sponsored webinars related to the educational goals of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), will summarize findings from a year-long descriptive study of California's continuation high schools, which offer an alternative for students at risk of not completing their education and which are a cornerstone of the state's dropout prevention strategy. A better understanding of student demographics and various factors that affect student performance can provide educators and policymakers both inside and outside California with critical information to shape dropout prevention and intervention practices and policies, especially the challenges of educating overage and undercredited youth. Presenters include Jorge Ruiz de Velasco, Associate Director and Director of Education Initiatives at the Warren Institute on Race, Ethnicity and Diversity, University of California, Berkeley, School of Law; and Milbrey McLaughlin, Founding Director of the John W. Gardner Center for Youth and Their Communities at Stanford University.- 0 comments
